Phu Quoc Express has planned to put the Thang Long super passenger ferry with a capacity of 1,017 passengers into operation, temporarily serving the Vung Tau – Con Dao route.
In an exchange with Lao Dong News, Mr. Vu Van Khuong – General Director of Phu Quoc Express – said that the company has planned to put the Thang Long high-speed passenger ferry with a capacity of over 1,000 passengers into operation to serve the Vung Tau – Con Dao route from March 9.
According to the previous plan, the company intended to use the Thang Long high-speed ferry to serve the Nha Be (Ho Chi Minh City) – Con Dao route. However, as of now, the procedures have not been completed, so the implementation of this route has not met the desired schedule.
Moreover, at this time, the sea has calmed down, leading to an increased demand for travel to Con Dao. Therefore, the company has decided to temporarily put the Thang Long high-speed ferry into operation to serve the Vung Tau – Con Dao route while waiting to complete the procedures to operate the Nha Be – Con Dao route.
“According to the plan, the Thang Long ferry will arrive in Vung Tau on March 7 and be introduced on March 8. The first trip to Con Dao will depart on March 9, and the company has developed a temporary plan to serve the Vung Tau – Con Dao route until the end of March 2024,” Mr. Khuong informed.
Travel agencies/ticket offices also stated that they have received information about switching from the Trung Nhi ferry to the Thang Long ferry on the Vung Tau – Con Dao route from March 9 and are rechecking previously booked tickets to ensure good service for customers traveling to/from Con Dao from Vung Tau.
The Thang Long high-speed passenger ferry is up to 77.46 meters long, consisting of 4 floors (2 Eco cabins, 1 VIP cabin, and the top floor space specifically designed for “Café Roof Top”).
The ferry has a total capacity of up to 1,017 passengers, using 3 Rolls-Royce MTU engines, leading the world, with a total power of 11,580 horsepower, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly. The hull of the ferry is made of aluminum alloy imported from Italy, helping the ferry achieve speeds of up to 30 nautical miles/hour.
