HANG DUONG CEMETERY

Coming to Con Dao, visitors will visit Hang Duong cemetery here is the resting place of tens of thousands of revolutionary soldiers and fellow patriots of Vietnam through many generations imprisoned for 113 years, in turn sacrificed under the brutal yoke of colonialism and empire. The Hang Duong cemetery is 190,000 square meters wide, according to estimates, there are more than two hundred thousand patriotic prisoners resting in Con Dao. In 1992, the Hang Duong cemetery was restored and restored. The Hang Duong cemetery has 4 graves.

Zone A has the grave of the General Secretary Le Hong Phong, grave of patriotic doctor Nguyen An Ninh; Zone B has a grave of Hero of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces Vo ThiSau and Le Chi Hieu; Zone C has the grave of Hero Le Van Viet; Zone D is the place where graves from Keo cemetery and Hon Cau cemetery are gathered.

Today, in honor of the Martyr Heroes and Vietnamese patriots who fought and died in Con Dao, at the same time denounced the cruel crimes of Con Dao prison regime under two colonial-style are old and new, a system of highly generalized art works has been built such as: the ceremony area with the main monument and the historical relief of Con Dao, the stone garden with the badge of Bat Khuat (adamant), Thuy Chung statue (Faithful Statue) and HyVong statue (Hope Statue)

The Hang Duong cemetery has been signed by the Prime Minister, Decision 548 / QD-TTg, recognizing as a Special National Monument on 10/5/2012.
